Charming Small Oak & Silver Plated Cruet Set by John Grinsell & Co.

Description

Dating to around 1890, this little Victorian is created from polished Oak and mounted with silver plated fittings. There is a mark for the silversmith (cupid into a shield) for John Grinsell and Co., the most famous maker to make these Oak and silver combination pieces.

The caddy is fully fitted with the two original cut crystal bottles, one for Oil and the other for Vinegar, to the front is a mustard pot and pepperette, all without damage. The front has a shield shaped mount.

All the fittings have been re-plated as most of the silver was worn, you can see old pitting underneath the new plate giving it a great character patina.

Excellent condition, measuring 3 1/2" square x 5 1/4" to the top of the handle.
