Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1880s.
In its typically fine quality "Corniche" case, with bevelled glass panels to the front, side, back door and top, and folding cast brass handle, the eight-day movement retains its original lever platform escapement and strikes hours and half-hours on a gong.
The clear white enamel dial is perfect as are the original blued steel 'spade' hands.
