Repeating Carriage Clock by Margaine

Description

A very fine quality late 19th century FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK by the "excellent maker of carriage clocks": Francoise Auguste MARGAINE.

Contained in the gilded and decorated "Anglaise" case, the eight-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a gong, repeating hours at will via the upper button. The original white enamel dial is perfect, as are the blued steel "moon" hands, and it retains its original lever platform escapement.

Signed to the backplate (trademark: a beehive flanked by the initials "A.M") it is numbered 2892, and retains its original numbered (2892) winding key. Guaranteed at least two years.
