French Carved Oak Marriage Double Bed

French Carved Oak Double Bed, a Marriage Bed in the Breton style, depicting scenes from the country side and deeply carved bocage

This is a superb piece 19th Century Carving, the head board has the characteristic Breton Wheel of Life and a windmill in the centre with pastoral scenes, while the foot board has a large carved panel, with figures dancing in celebration. The bed is in good sound condition the carving is delightful and crisp, the bed will be supplied with a new pine slatted base and requires a mattress 74’ x 54”, the head board is 56” high and 58” wide
