Description

This antique Victorian sofa is wonderful quality & is in good original condition. The frame is solid walnut, with some very intricate carvings all over. It has a beautifully carved back section, swept out curved arms, a deep buttoned upholstered back, well turned fluted front legs & a serpentine shaped bottom edge. We didn't re-polish the frame, because I didn't really want to spoil the character, but I did get the frame sorted out & tightened before upholstering. We covered it in the way it was done originally, with deep buttoning & the inside under the fabric is crisp horse hair. We used some lovely Swedish linen fabric, because I've imported a whole roll of it from Sweden & at least it's a neutral colour. Please enlarge all the images to appreciate the depth of the carvings & other great features. This sofa still has the original white porcelain casters.
