The composition is glorious and the treatment of the bushes and trees is particularly well done and inspiring. A really lovely scene. (Some light reflections in the photographs do not appear in reality!)
Fully inscribed on the reverse and with applied title to the gilt panel on the front. 24ins x 17ins (61 x 43cms). *John Francis GILBERT (1792-1855) painted landscapes, exhibiting 6 works at the Royal Academy and 13 works at Suffolk Street. He lived in Chichester (West Sussex).
