Fabulous Antique Figural Inkwell - Fox in a Tavern C.1880

Description

A quite wonderful, unusual and fun desk-top gem, made from brass dating to the late Victorian era, around 1880.

The circular plinth is topped with a naturalistic base topped with the Fox sitting drinking a glass of Ale in a Tavern next to a barrel topped with his feathered hat. The hat is the lid of the inkwell which opens to reveal the original brass liner.

A real charmer in excellent condition; a few minor dings here and there and a very slight rock on a flat surface, nothing of consequence and mentioned purely for accuracy.

The base measuring 5 1/2" in diameter x 5 1/2" tall.
