Antique Burr Walnut Leather Top Kneehole Desk - Shaped Front

1900 - 1920
Description

This antique walnut kneehole desk has some really good features & is good quality throughout. It is serpentine shaped on the front & has a useful cupboard under the kneehole. The top has a faded black tooled leather. All the drawers & the cupboard have locks & there is one key, which must work the cupboard. The front section is a beautifully grained burr walnut, whilst the sides & back are figured walnut. The side drawers are all concave & the middle one is bowed. The drawers all have the original brass plate back handles. The best thing about this desk is the fact that unlike other smallish kneehole desks with centre cupboards, this one has a very generous kneehole space. It sits on short walnut Queen Anne feet with shell carvings on the knees. I would say it dates to around the 1910-20's period.

Knee height - 24.8", 63 cm
