Description

This large antique breakfront bookcase is a stunning looking piece & wonderful quality too. It's predominately burr walnut on the front, with plenty of 'herring bone' inlays. The wood is beautifully aged & this piece is full of character. There is a dental frieze below the cornice & four astral-glazed doors below. Inside the top section are adjustable shelves. There is a bank of drawers in the middle of the base section with brass handles & panelled cupboards either side of that. There are locks in all the drawers & cupboards. The whole thing sits on a strong plinth base. The back of the bookcase is all tongue & grooved. This bookcase has a lovely original warm colour & is full of character. It's in excellent condition too & separates into two sections. Please enlarge all the images to appreciate this bookcase, because there are many features that I haven't mentioned. I'm not sure of the exact age & I have a feeling that it has been adapted at some point. I would say it dates from around the 1910-20's period.
