Antique English Silver Plated Biscuit Box by Elkington - 1873

Description

A wonderful and very unusual biscuit box by the creme de la creme of English silver plate manufacturers, Elkington & Co., with a full mark on the underside. Being Elkington, we are able to date it accurately, with a date letter for the year 1873.

The design is very unusual with a showy Engine Turned decoration and further engraved decoration.

The box has an integral tray supported on three very handsome ball and claw feet.

Excellent condition. The tray diameter measuring 7 1/4", the lid diameter, 5 1/2" and standing 5 1/4" tall.
