Description

A very, very grand large basket and the finest quality you will find. Beautifully decorated with a magnificent raised border incorporating the figural head of Bacchus.

The centre of the base has the original engraved monogram in solid sterling silver. The way engravings were done on pieces of Old Sheffield Plate was by inserting a sterling silver lozenge which in turn was then engraved.

The handle is quite stunning too and of course, folds flat where required. The cartouche on the very top of the handle has another engraving "From K M", clearly give as a gift around 1850.

A real stunner, it will be a long time until I will come across one like this again! Superb condition, 11 3/4" in diameter x 9 1/2" to top of handle while upright.
