Magnificent Antique English Figural Match Strike C.1890

Description

I have only ever come across one other of these many, many years ago. Made from a heavy piece of thick crystal, this large striker was made to accommodate the larger long length matches, the one's shown measure 3 3/4" in length.

The matches would have been non-safety matches and would have been struck on the textured surfaces of the fabulous Cockerel or Rooster head. The matches shown cannot be shipped with the striker as this is not permitted by any carrier.

The fabulous polished brass mount has been professionally polished to gleam, a beautifully executed head and retaining his original two glass eyes.

This is a fabulous and highly collectible table-top gem dating to the late Victorian era, around 1890 Superb condition with the glass sphere measuring 4" in diameter and stands 7" tall.
