Description

CJ Klaftenberger no.3926. A fine quality carriage clock by this noted retailer. An earlier 'one-piece' case with large glass top aperture. An enamel dial with 'moon' blued steel hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell. Push button repeating. The original lever escapement. The original travelling box. Circa 1850.

CJ Klaftenberger was a skilled watchmaker and president of the BHI. He was born in 1795 and died in 1874. Leading French clockmakers supplied him with clocks.
