Antique English Automated Biscuit Box by J.h. Potter C.1890

Description

A wonderful and very decorative Victorian biscuit box in a lovely oval shape, made from a hefty piece of English crystal, exquisitely cut with a hobnail cut underside.

The fittings are made from silver plate, fully marked for the well renowned silversmith, J.H. Potter of Sheffield.

The collar on the box is decorated with a continuous Ivy leaf design. The top of the lid is beautifully engraved and the very elegant handle is used to operate the opening of the hinged lid, always a highly sought-after design.

Dating to around 1890, the box is in superb condition, measuring 8 1/2" x 5 3/4" x 8" tall to top of handle.
