A Large Kingwood & Rosewood French Partners Desk

1900 - 1920
Description

A Large Kingwood & rosewood inlaid French partners desk. Having a large rectangular top with a central rectangular brown leather writing surface with gilt and blind tooled detail and a chevron chequer band border, flanked by kingwood veneered rectangular panels again with chevron chequer band inlaid detail. The whole top cross banded in rosewood. One side having an arrangement of five rectangular oak lined drawers with typical French ribbon and swag ormolu escutcheons, with central kingwood inlaid panels and chequer band inlaid detail. The reverse having a central rectangular frieze drawer and two further "dummy" drawers. The ends also beautifully veneered in kingwood with rosewood cross banded detail. Supported on square tapering supports with brass capped feet. French circa 1880-1900
