George Carter is listed by Brian Loomes in the Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World

as working in Hitchin Hertfordshire c. 1851 & 1874

When this clock was retailed he was obviously in partnership with someone called Flitton (presumably from the nearby village of the same name in Bedfordshire)
