An Oak and Elm Period West Country Dresser in Original Condition. Circa 1790.

19th century
Description

This oak and elm country dresser was removed from a north devon farm house where it is believed to have been for it's entire life.

It is unusual to find a dresser of this age in original condition. We have restored the item as some buyers will prefer the 'look', however, I am very happy to clean and wax the piece which will respond beautifully to treatment as only elm and oak can!.

The base has three drawers with original brass furniture and the rack above has two bow fronted shelves. Cup hooks are located to the front of the shelves in the traditional manner.

As would be expected the rack is removable for easy movement and transport.being of relatively small proportions this dresser is highly versatile which gives it a strong advantage over some of the massive versions for sale!

Overall height. 76 inches.

Width. 65 inches.

Front to back at deepest point 19.75 inches.

Rack height independent of base. 46.75 inches.

All questions are welcome and delivery can be arranged.

This item would make a wonderful addition to a west country cottage!

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
