Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1910s.
The box opens to reveal a fully fitted interior, unusually in wood. The previous owner looks to have attached a shoe lace to keep the box upright when opened, this could be removed if desired.
The matching blotter is backed with leather and opens to reveal a pocket one side to store spare blotting paper.
Excellent condition, minor wear commensurate with age. The box has a footprint measuring 10 1/2" x 5 1/2" and standing 7" tall at rear; the internal compartments measure 8 3/4" in length. The blotter measures 11" x 9 1/4".
