A Large and boldly modelled gothic wall clock, beautifully made from brass. It is very heavily but finely modelled and is in the form of the clock in a drum hanging from an ornate wall bracket, a grotesque mask forms the top of the bracket with the clock held in the masks mouth. Finely detailed dragons to each side of the clock climb from the bracket.
Dial is enamel on copper, a lovely cream ground lettered in gothic Arabic numerals.
Samuel Marti movement is of this makers usual very high standard with their mark "Samuel Marti, gold medal 1900" on the movement backplate. There is also the Paris retailers mark "S.H". It strikes the hours and halves on a bell and runs for 8 days. It is in excellent, clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker who has replaced the missing pendulum and bell. Click the movie below to see and hear the movement run!
Condition of the case is excellent, the finish of the brass is bright and clean with no losses. The lower finial is not quite straight as you can see in the pictures. Condition of the dial is also excellent with no scratches or chips. The clock displays very well as you can see below.
