Antique French Brass Clock Set

A stunning small clock set 'Garniture de cheminee' in beautiful clean and bright condition. It is a good size, being only 4 1/2" (11.5 cm) front to back overall and therefore will sit comfortably on a 6" (15 cm) deep mantle.

Modelling of the set is superb, heavily formed with crisp, clean and well finished edges. It is in the style of Louis XVI, profusely decorated with blind fretted foliage and floral swags, scrolls and roundels. Both clock and candelabra sit on scroll bracket feet.

The dial is cast brass and is mounted with 12 individual enamel cartouches. Beaded bezel is fitted with bevelled convex glass.

The French movement is of high quality. It runs for 8 days and strikes half hourly on a bell and is complete with a original pendulum. It has been fully overhauled by our clock maker and is in excellent working order. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition is excellent, the case has a clean and bright finish with some very minor wear or tarnish. The candelabra arms are very slightly distorted. The dial is also in good condition, the number four cartouche has a chip to the end near the winding hole. The number 8 has some cracking and the number nine has alight hairline. A stunning clock set ready for display, as you can see below!

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
