George III Mahogany Wine Cellarette

Description

A very good quality 18th century George III period brass-bound mahogany CELLARETTE of octagonal form.

The well figured solid top, with its original cast brass handle, opens to reveal the lead-lined interior (recently re-lined and now water-tight) with draining plug, and removable mahogany divisions. It is supported on its original stand with four tapering legs and original brass "barrel" castors.

A very good example of this popular cellarette, which can also be used as a side or lamp table. c.1780
