Description

A fabulous and scarcely found biscuit box in the form of Coal Scuttle or Box, a design always highly sought-after but very hard to come by.

Made from solid Oak, and smothered in silver plated fittings and standing on four original bun feet. Either side on the silver plate is an English Design Registration diamond shaped lozenge, only added to pieces of notable design and quality, always making an English antique article even more highly desirable. The other benefit is being able to date a piece accurately, this design being registered, 17th January 1879, a true Victorian novelty gem.

The underside of the box has a shield shaped mount, engraved with the makers initials for BOURNE & O'NEILL of Birmingham.

Excellent condition, measuring 10 1/4" x 6 1/4" x 9" tall to top of handle.
