Antique English Cut Crystal & Sterling Silver Inkwell - 1896

Description

A fabulous and most unusual inkwell made from a hefty piece of cut crystal, the underside deeply cut in the ever-popular hobnail design.

The shoulders are smothered in highly decorative pierced or reticulated sterling silver, all four sides integrating a mythical figure head in the centre. The collar and hinged lid are also made from English sterling silver, the inside of the lid retaining it's original lavish gilding. There are full hallmarks to the silver for London 1896, making this a true Victorian example.

A super quality desk-top gem in excellent condition, measuring 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 2 1/4".
