Large French Elm and Marble Pestle and Mortar

The Most wonderful piece of French Artisan equipment and a really rare piece

The Marble Mortar is made in the Roman style it is set into a piece of Elm Tree trunk, with carrying handles on each side and stands on sturdy splayed wooden legs, this type structure was often used in rural areas as making sure that such a precious item would be safe and last for many years even though it was in everyday use, the Mortar comes with a well used turned lignum vitae pestle

Now after years of use preparing the spices to cure food, this is the opportunity to give this marvellous piece a new life, the mortar is strong and sound and ready to go back to work

The mortar is 31” high, and is 14” x 14” at the top, the pestle is 23” long
