The right hand side with a serpentine shaped rectangular door with a wonderful inlaid panel depicting a classical central urn, foliate marquetry, cornucopia and trailing ribbons and swags, above two "dummy" drawers, each having water gilded ormolu handles. The door opening to reveal further hanging space and shelves. The left hand side again with a floral marquetry panel above two serpentine drawers and opens to reveal a shelved interior. The whole supported on a serpentine moulded plinth with satinwood cross banded detail throughout circa 1900. This wardrobe is made from the finest fiddleback mahogany throughout.

Edwards & Roberts was founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century.

Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp.
