Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1910s.
This is where the full English hallmark can be found for Birmingham 1911, the makers mark is present but a little rubbed.

The top is two-tiered, the very top hinged lid is opened to reveal a triple compartment postage stamp box, retaining it's original lavish gilding. This can in turn be opened to reveal the double inkwell, one ink chamber for black ink and the other for red ink. There are removable glass liners, for easy re-filling and cleaning.
A wonderful and rare find in excellent condition. The width measures 5" at the front and 4 1/2" at back, standing 2" tall.
