Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.

They focus wonderfully and adjust to fit comfortably across the bride of the nose, there are also integral brass sun shades to reduce glare in bright light and sunshine. There are also eye shields that swivel across to the outside when in use and swivel back to the centre for packing away in the case.

They come complete with a really wonderful original brown leather carrying case (no strap) with the inside of the lid being signed " Ross Ltd, 111 New Bond St, & 31 Cockspur St, London ". The glasses are also signed Ross, London

In 1897 the Kelly's Directory wording read: "ROSS and Co. Gold Medals London 1851 and 1862, Paris 1867, Philadelphia 1876, Paris 1878 and Inventions Exhibition 1885 Grand prix and Gold Medal 1889, Jamaica 1891 3 awards Chicago 1893. For first class microscopes, telescopes and photographic lenses and apparatus, race glasses etc. Catalogues on application".

Excellent condition measuring 5 1/4" wide x 6 7/8" tall (including eye shades) extending to 8". The case measures 9" tall x 5 3/4" wide. The optics are in perfect working order.
