Fabulous Antique English Engraved Glass & Sterling Silver Reynold's Angels Box - 1898

Description

A wonderful crystal & sterling silver box, and an unusual example of it's type. This delightful heart shaped box is made from crystal but what makes this more unusual is an all round copper wheel engraved decoration incorporating two charming winged Cherub or Putti figures.

The quality hinged lid is made from English Sterling silver with a raised border and a repousse or embossed Reynold's Angels scene. The silver is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1898 making this a true Victorian example together with the makers initials for the well renowned Henry Matthews.

Excellent condition, measuring 3" x 3" x 1 1/2" tall.
