This wonderful and grand pair of letter scales are by the very famous Sampson Mordan, the most highly sought-after maker, signed on the front, S.Mordan & Co. London.

The base is made from solid English Oak and houses the set of six solid cast weights.

The letter pan is beautifully engraved with the postage rates for "Inland", "British Empire, Egypt & USA" and "Other Countries".

Dating to the Victorian era, between 1871 and 1897, this is an impressive desk / office accessory, in superb polished condition. The base has a footprint measuring 12 1/2" x 6" x 4 1/2" tall.
