Early Victorian Mahogany Longcase Regulator

Description

Thomas Foster of Tiverton (Devon): an excellent quality eight-day REGULATOR in perfect working order.

The CASE is of beautifully figured "flame" mahogany with a glazed panelled door to the trunk and matching panelled base with applied ogee mouldings leading to solid shaped bracket feet.

The 8-day MOVEMENT is of superb quality, with very thick plates; deadbeat escapement; maintaining power; wood rod pendulum and fine adjustment to the bob. It retains its original brass-cased weight and fine pulley wheel, whilst the enamel-painted dial features the conventional regulator layout with subsidiary seconds and hours dials. 6ft 6ins tall.
