Antique William IV Rosewood X Framed Stool

19th century
Description

This is a period William 1V rosewood X framed stool in good original condition dating from the 1830-40's period. It has those typical incised cut outs & shaping around the top, which were only done in that period. The shaped X framed legs have a turned cross stretcher joining them, which gives extra stability. The seat has been recovered in a cream linen fabric by my upholsterer & you can feel the crisp horse hair inside when you press down. If you wanted to recover, it's held in by two screws underneath. It would be a very easy job for any upholsterer & shouldn't cost more than £15 - £20 to do.

Length - 20.5", 52 cm

Depth - 17.5", 45 cm

Height at the middle point - 17", 43 cm

Declaration

Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
