The pedestals having an arrangement of four graduating oak lined drawers each with their original brass drop handles. With a larger rectangular knee hole frieze drawer and with brass mounts throughout. The whole supported on eight cabriole supports with inset brass castors. Having solid mahogany panelled ends and back and bearing the manufacturers stamp S & H Jewell, Holborn and with Hobbs & Co locks throughout, a sign of the quality of this piece of furniture. English circa 1890-1900

Dimensions: 48" wide x 26" deep x 29.5" high (knee hole 19" wide x 24" high)
S & H Jewell were based in the Holborn area of London and were recorded as cabinet-makers from 1830- 1840, but as late as 1894 a billhead, stating that the firm was founded in 1830, was recorded for furniture supplied by the firm for Standen House, East Grinstead, Sussex.

Condition: This desk is in beautiful condition, re-polished in our workshops. Replacement quality leather insert. Some dents and scuffs to the brass ware consistent with age and use
