Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The front and side rails are also decorated with stringing along wth the turned legs. The seats have been newly recovered over the existing upholstery in a cream brocade with a pattern of swirls embroidered in a gold colour. A very attractive pair of high quality chairs with lovely burr walnut inlay and extensive stringing decoration.

Condition Report:
Some slight give to the frames. Wear and marks commensurate with age. Newly recovered with new fabric over the existing upholstery which is firm and sound. Some worm holes to the seat rails which have been treated with worm killer as a precaution and filled with wax.
