A very large, imposing and heavy original antique French brass clock. It is a beautifully made drum head clock in the classical style of Louis XVI. The movement is mounted in a large drum with super lions mask handles and a large urn to the top. It stands on an elaborate and heavily modelled base with laurel leaves and large scrolls and sturdy, reeded corner columns. The clock is modelled in the round and the rear door is glazed with frosted glass. This is a clock of grand proportions for a large room and will require a substantial table or mantle to stand on.

The large, stunning dial is also gilt brass with 12 individual enamel cartouches and blued steel hands.

The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition and is in full working order. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition just some tiny nibbles to the cartouches.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
