Description

A fabulous Victorian biscuit box or barrel, the design I have not ever come across. The base and rim are circular, in the middle it almost turns into a square with large dimples on all four sides and each dimple cut to clear.

The rest of the box is deeply cut, all in great shape, a really hefty piece of glass, the underside with a star-cut. The rim and swing handle are made from silver plate. The lid is beautifully engraved and topped with a Mother of Pearl finial.

Dating to around 1880 or 1890, this fine example remains in superb condition. Approx. 5 1/2" across; 6 1/4" tall and 9" tall to top of handle.
