Pair Antique English Biscuit Boxes in Silverplate C.1890

Description

A most magnificent find, to come across an actual pair of biscuit boxes, perfect to display on a large sideboard or even on the table where a pair would work better than a single one.

Each stands on three very grand ball and claw feet supporting the integral (attached to the box) tray or underplate. The front of each box has the same hand engraved decoration and the lids have very sightly different decoration to enable to the owner to remember what was kept in each box.

Unmarked, this striking pair dates to the late Victorian era, around 1890, both are in excellent condition. Measurements: Lid diameter: 5 3/4"; Integral underplate diameter: 7 1/2"; x 5 3/4" tall.
