Description

Delightful mid 19th.c. Welsh folk art seascape on glass c.1860. Painting on glass employs a remarkable reverse process whereby forground detail is added first before the colour blocks and background. In an unusual scene with a charming naive scale a man poles a small boat through the surf toward a boat under sail. In the backgrounds stands a wooden pier or quayside and two pointed top watch towers very simialr to those found in Ireland. Bright colours and lovely detail to the waves. In excellent condition, presented in the original frame.
