Description

This magnificent Vanity Bag or 'chanteh'in Persian, represents the best of 19th century Qashqa'i work. It is a highly collectable bag, complete with finely knotted pile face and plain-weave back. The piled face has a very unusual and rare pea-green field colour - rarely seen in Qashqa'i work. The symbol on the plain-weave back symbolises a swastika - an early pre-Islamic motif for breaking down evil into 4 parts or simply reducing the power of evil.
