Webb of Frome Somerset Longcase Clock

Description

A late Georgian Somerset mahogany longcase clock. A light mahogany case with banded line inlays. A swan-neck hood pediment with finial. Corinthium brass capped fluted hood columns. Chamfered trunk sides. An attractive arched painted dial with floral corners. Date aperture and seconds dial. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

James Webb & Son worked in Frome from 1785 - 1851. There are a number of longcase clocks illustrated in AJ Moores' 'The Clockmakers Of Somerset' book by these makers.
