Masons Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
It has a glazed, arched lockable door to the front and a glazed, lockable door to the rear. There is a brass carrying handle to the top and four brass bun feet. There are arched brass sound frets to either side.

The arched brass dial has a silvered brass centre with engraved black Roman numerals and an outer ring of 5 minute markers in Arabic numerals. It has beautiful hand cut brass pointers and is engraved with the makers name "G. CHALMERS. DUBLIN". To the arch is a subsiduary dial for setting the ALARM facility of the clock. It has gilded brass spandrels to the corners.

The 8 day, fusee movement has a verge escapement and a bell strike for the alarm. It has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered staff.
G CHALMERS is recorded as working at THE HALF MOON, CAPEL STREET, DUBLIN between 1748-1780.
