An Antique Dutch Inlaid Marquetry Oak Marriage Chest

Description

A decorative Dutch inlaid marriage trunk dedicated to Ancke Rathmans, dating from the late 18th or early 19th Century, with domed top and original iron carrying handles, the front with marquetry and pokerwork decoration of a bird amidst foliage flanked by starburst panels. The interior with candlebox to one side. With 19th Century replacement hinges, the interior lock is now missing.

76cm high max, 132cm wide and 62cm deep.
