Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The side supports are barley twist and topped with finials. They have been newly reupholstered in a matt dark brown leather.

Fairly solid (a little give). Both have old mends to the upright supports at the front and back which have been filled with wax. Other general wear and marks commensurate with age to the frames.
