Late 17th Century Spindle Back Oak Side Chair

Description

A charming and unusal antique oak spindle back side chair dating from the late 17th century /early 18th Century, circa 1700. The moulded toprail above four ball-turned spindles within square uprights with in-scrolled finials, the boarded seat on ball-turned and blocked legs with peripheral stretchers. Most likley Northern English in origin. Lovely warm colour and patina.

Construction/Wood:

Oak

Condition Report:

Fairly wobbly to the back - but more suited as a decorative chair than one of everyday use. A split across the seat. Wear and marks commensurate with age. One of the spinldes is probably a replacement.
