Description

A magnificent find, this is a top notch and most unusual inkwell made from hefty silver plate standing on a square base, in turn standing on four feet.

The Beehive is made from a heavy cast rope with a hinged lid. The beehive is covered with hand-made Bees beautifully gilded.

The inside retains it's original removable glass and gilded liner for easy refilling and cleaning.

The back is where the full English design registration diamond-shaped lozenge can be found, dating the piece to 1869. The makers initials also present, G.B & Sons.

A rare and fine piece in excellent condition, 5 1/2" square x 4 1/2" tall.
