Antique Regency Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase C1820

Antique Regency Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase and dating from around 1820. It has a moulded cornice to the top above a cross banded frieze and with two diamond shaped astragal glazed doors with brass divider to the centre and with working lock and key. Internally there are three adjustable shelves. To the base there is a deep false drawer which drops down to reveal an interior of four central pigeon holes above a long single drawer and flanked on either side by a flight of four small drawers all of which are mahogany lined with small ivory knob handles and all the fronts have fine stringing to the edges. It has its original writing skiver set within a mahogany surround. To the base there are three long graduating drawers all of which are mahogany lined with original brass handles and it stands on shaped bracket feet joined by a shaped frieze.

Measures: 81" high x 21" deep x (internal depth 12" x knee height to desk top 29") x 39" wide

A very nice Antique Regency Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase and in very good original condition ( some very old ink staining to the desk top)with a lovely deep colour and patination and oozing all the charm and character of the period. Our furniture is cleaned and polished using traditional waxing methods.
