Delightful Small Antique French Jewellery Box - Annie - C.1860

Description

A charming little antique French jewelry box dating to around 1860. Made from Burr Cedar, the box has lovely rounded corners and a gentle domed lid.

The edge of the lid is bound in a brass edging, then inlaid with Ebony, Kingwood and brass stringing. In the centre of the lid is a shaped cartouche framed in Ebony and Brass which surrounds a Mother of Pearl plate engraved and inked "Annie".

The box is lucky enough to have retained it's original blue silk lining.

Excellent condition 5 1/4" x 3 1/4" x 2 1/8" tall.
