RESERVED ~ A good Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Brass "Bottle" Spit Jack, in working order and complete with it's pendant iron hanging ring and winding key, an attractive and decorative accessory for the country cottage inglenook. Once commonly encountered domestic items, these are now difficult to find in good, clean condition in today's marketplace. The body emblazoned with the Warranted Maker's Mark of John Linwood of 57, St. Paul's Square, Birmingham, whose device of a tree was registered with the Sheffield Assay Office in 1807. Further details of the Linwood family of Birmingham metalworkers, including John, may be found in Wrightson's Triennial Directory for 1818.
