Late C19th Chinese Carved Hardwood Wall Mirror

Late C19th Chinese carved hardwood framed wall mirror . Deeply carved 'Hongmu' frame with peony flowers and leaves on a 'punched' ground all around the edges, and an Imperial Dragon amongst clouds to the top centre. Well-carved Dragons head with inset ivory eyes. The peony flower ,known as the ' King of flowers' ,symbolises fame ,wealth and good fortune in Chinese culture. The mirror glass plate with bevelled edge and re-entrant corners. Panelled back with rings for hanging. A useful mirror for furnishing an Oriental style interior. H 30" X W 22. China c.1880
