Snelling of Ashford Longcase Clock

Description

A good quality Kent longcase clock. Choice flame mahogany veneers to the London style case with re-entrant base panel. An arched hood pediment surmounted by 3 brass finials. Side glass hood apertures and brass capped hood columns. The original double plinth base. An attractive arched painted dial with floral decorations. Date and seconds dials. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. A flat brass pendulum road often seen on London clocks.

John Snelling of Ashford is recorded in Loomes 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working from 1826.
