A Pair of Antique French Monogrammed Metis Linen Sheets

1900 - 1920
Description

A superb pair of French metis linen sheets, very large size, each measuring 215cm (84.5") wide x 344cm (136") long. Each sheet is made from 3 panels joined with tiny hand sewn stitches, the hems are also hand sewn and they are embroidered with the initials MD to one corner. These sheets date from the late 19th Century when narrow looms were in use.

The linen is thick, heavy and very tactile with lots of slubs in the weave. Each sheet weighs 210kg. Suitable for use as tablecloths, upholstery and would make fantastic curtains.

Price is for a pair of sheets, however, I have 4 available and will sell individually.
